5.4--- The Zombie Apocalypse has begun!

Dearest Ladies and Gentlemen,
This time on 60 Minutes with your Co-Star Elder Guymon!!----

Things are going amazingly well down here in Cloudcroft, NM!! :) But I must regretfully inform that the Zombie Apocalypse has started in no other place than Alamogordo! And by that I mean my companion, Elder Barlow, has none other than the Herpes Zoster virus, commonly known as Shingles.... :/ NOOOOOOOO!  and so we will be in a temporary quarantine for the next 1-2 weeks *insert horrified expression*
And so for those of you who don't know what shingles is, it's basically an excruciating version of the Chicken Pox virus, which attacks the nerve endings in your body and causes  these little red bumps to appear all over the skin. It is highly contagious, but the catch is, it only affects people who have NOT had the Chicken Pox. What makes this scary for us is that the majority of the missionaries who are in our district have NOT had Chicken Pox, which can have some serious repercussions if you catch it as an adult.
But not to worry about me, I have actually had both Chicken Pox and Shingles before, and so I am immune to that virus. :) So moral of the story you may ask? God knew what he was doing when he inspired President Miller to assign Elder Barlow and I to be together as companions.
I mentioned quarantine before, what I mean by that is most likely we will not be able to do missionary-work so long as Elder Barlow is contagious.... which means for the next little while we will be inside, all-day, every-day! *insert Darth Vader NOOOOOOOOO*
Hahah but that's ok! The Lord has a reason for this and we just got to be patient and humble enough to listen to the lesson that we can learn!
Another thing that has been really cool though is the amount of members in our ward who have volunteered to help us out with anything we need! The Lord has really blessed us with people who care in our area! Miracle!

Also, Thanks so much for your lovely letters and emails! Thank you, that always brightens our day when we get letters from home!
Anywho, that's what's up with us in Cloudcroft! I hope alls of yous is having a beautiful time wherever you are at! :)
Until next time,

Elder Jacob Guymon

5.3--Miracle Week!

Dear Family and Friends,
Things are going so awesome here in Cloudcroft, New Mexico! It blows my mind to think that I get to wake up every day and live in such an amazing place. I think we are in a place as close to Heaven as it gets! Also, things are going really well with Elder Barlow! We are having a lot of fun and things are good!

Also, this week was AMAZING! We broke the record in our area for the amount of lessons taught, and we also were able to get 3 referrals and 2 new investigators! :) :) Good things are happening in heaven Ladies and Gentlemen! :) And the Lord is blessing us richly for working like we know we should!

Our new investigators are really solid too! :) Both of them are from Part-Member Families, and they seem genuinely ready to go! The only problems are one of them will be going back to jail this week :( but we are going to try to get permission from the President, to go and visit him there! So keep him in your prayers! :)

Anywho, that's about it for now! I am so happy to be out right now and I feel so richly blessed to be out serving the Lord right now in Cloudcroft! :)

Thanks,

Elder Guymon

5.2--Cloud Croft

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am now serving in Cloud Croft, NM!!! :)  My new companion is named Elder Barlow, and things are going excellent! So a little bit about him--he is from Nissa, Oregon. He graduated the same year as me, and he has been out for about 4 1/2 months now! (It was a crazy moment when I realized that I have now been out for six month!!! Where is my mission going?) Anywho we are excited to be together!

A little bit about Cloud Croft, so we basically live in the middle of a National Forest! What? Our area covers about 60 miles of the mountain communities surrounding Alamogordo, NM! We drive a 2013 Jeep Compass, and we live in a log cabin!!  We cover a little branch out here that has between 30-40 members, and we meet each Sunday in a library! The average age in my ward is about 60 years old. Cloud Croft is basically like a mountain retreat for west Texas and Eastern New Mexico and so most of the members in our ward are retirees! But things are beautiful, Elder Barlow and I jokingly say that we've found Heaven! The average temp is a lot cooler than the rest of NM, so in the summer it rarely breaks 85, and in the winter it averages between 30-40 degrees. There is still snow on the ground, and the other day we saw a herd of elk just sitting on the road! Yep, awesome!

Anywho, enough about that. My new address if you want to send a letter to is:
P.O. Box #789               Cloudcroft, NM    88317

You can also send packages to that same address too! :) yeah!

Well anywho, I will try to get some pictures up as soon as I can! Thanks for all of your love and support!

Thanks,
Elder (Mountain Man) Guymon

5.1-- Into the Deep Blue

Dearest Ladies and Gentlemen,

I AM GETTING TRANSFERRED!!! What? Yeppers I am leaving 701 Stephen Moody and I will be going to Transfers tomorrow at 7 AM! I have no idea as of yet as to my next area, but it should be excellent either way. I am still not sure how I feel about this. Part of me is sad to leave because the members of our ward, and our investigators have been such a huge part of my life these past 6 months! I have grown to care about each one of them and it was a lot harder to say goodbye than I'd thought!

But alas the Lord needs me elsewhere and so I leave for bigger and better things! Elder Zirker is still trying to convince me that Pres. Miller is going to send me to El Paso :) But I am hoping to go up North, but we will see where the Lord wants me and that's where I will go! :)

Other than transfers, this past week has been pretty darn good! The first of the week was really slow: because of a slow day, P-Day, and then I got food poisoning :p Oh No! but I was able to get a Priesthood Blessing and I am doing a world of better now!

Hmm after the slowness we were able to see a whole lot of less-actives who we hadn't been able to meet with yet, so that was a treat! :)

Well anywho, all is well here and I will make sure to put my new address on my blog ASAP!

Thanks for reading! :)

4.6 Post-Christmas Craziness (and stuff)

Dearest Ladies and Gentlemen,

I only have about 10 minutes to write this message, so I will make it short!

Thanks so much for all the wonderful Christmas letters and Gifts! That made this Christmas one of the best for sure! I was even able to carve a turkey this year! (A 79 year old lady in my ward taught me how)  As far as after Christmas stuff goes, it's going slow ! We had planned for 25 lessons, but we were only able to have 11. (but at least we were able to make 11 :) )

Hmm in other news, transfers are next Tuesday and so I stand a pretty good chance at getting switched areas! Which is exciting! :)

Um I don't have too much else to say, but I do want to let you all know that I am so happy to be out here serving along-side with the Savior!
