14.2--Opposition in all things

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen of the Blogging world,

Whew, this week was an awesome week, but it was full of ups and downs! :) Over all we are doing good and are happy to be missionaries.

So some things that happened this week:
1. We are still trying to figure out the date for baptism with the boys, but they are still wanting to, and they are coming to church :)
2. Our next door neighbor became a new investigator, and he has made it his purpose to convert us to becoming the true religion (Catholic).
3. We met with another one of our investigators who has decided that her role is invite us to repent of being Mormons.
4. We fixed some wiring problems that a member had going on in her house
5. I ate at Pei Wei for the first time! Delicious!
6. We had a fire, and Elder Summers burned his tie.
And so these were some of the comings and goings of this week! We had a lot of blessings, but with those blessings, we also had a lot of challenges and things that tried our faith. But I am grateful for challenges and struggles, because without them, we wouldn't have the ability to become stronger.
I found this talk online from Elder Wirthlin, and it was powerful:
Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin:
“I testify that the Man who suffered for mankind, who committed His life to healing the sick and comforting the disconsolate, is mindful of your sufferings, doubts, and heartaches.

‘Then,’ the world would ask, ‘why does He sleep when the tempest rages all around me? Why does He not still this storm, or why would He let me suffer?’

Your answer may be found in considering a butterfly. Wrapped tightly in its cocoon, the developing chrysalis must struggle with all its might to break its confinement. The butterfly might think, ‘Why must I suffer so? Why cannot I simply, in the twinkling of an eye, become a butterfly?’

Such thoughts would be contrary to the Creator’s design. The struggle to break out of the cocoon develops the butterfly so it can fly. Without that adversity, the butterfly would never have the strength to achieve its destiny. It would never develop the strength to become something extraordinary”

Anywho, life is going good! The mission is going great! :)  And I hope that y'all have a great week!

14.1--*Transfer up*

Dearest Ladies and Gentlemen,

It's been another week and things are good down here in Albuquerque :) So we have some transfer news... Nothing is changing for us! Elder Summers and I will be staying together here in Albuquerque. Woohoo! :) I like him, and we are doing some good work. We are excited for what the future holds in this area. :)

Hmmm...oh!...an update about the two boys with a baptismal date. They talked with their mom, and she said that they were all right to be baptized but just not this week. She was going to talk with them, and hopefully we could figure out something for a baptismal date....

Other than that we had a good week. We taught 17 lessons and got a new investigator. He's a 6'10" Samoan, and he probably weighs 400 lbs. Moral of the story, he's huge. Also he used to live in Santa Fe and even in the same apartment complex :) funny how that works out.

Oh, also some news from Cloudcroft. They took the missionaries out of Cloudcroft....which I mean they needed to do, but it's still a little sad that it' gone after all of the work that was put into it. But coincidentally the Jeep is in a neighboring area :)

I think that's about all that has happened this week, but here's a cool story before the blog ends:
So this week we had a day when all of our appointments are falling through... and we couldn't figure out what was going on. But we felt like we should go and stop by a less-active youth in our ward. He let us in, and we shared the Restoration with him. As we shared the first vision, he felt the Spirit and told us that he was wanting to go on a mission. :) So that was pretty cool!
:)

Anywho, until next week

13.6--Back to life as per usual

Dearest Ladies and Gentlemen,

Things are going quite awesome down here in Albuquerque. It's been another week, and life is good! We woke up this morning to some snow!!! Finally we get to see some snow! :)

Also, we have found a bit of a problem with the two boys who want to get baptized. The mom hasn't been informed of the baptism... and so that will be our priority this week is getting permission from her to do the baptism next week.

But other than that, life is good. We have been teaching a good amount of lessons, and our investigators have been progressing really well! We had 3 investigators at church! Woot woot! Another one came to church as well, but he's now being taught by the Assistants to the Presidents...

Anywho, I just found out that I only have 15 minutes to email left... so tata for now

13.5--Miracle Week (reprise)

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Thanks so much for all of your love and support. It's been so good to be able hear from so many of you!
Things down here are going really well! This past week we were able to find 5 new investigators!!! What? And so that was a miracle in and of itself. Also I was able to go on exchanges with Elder Roylance on New Years!! That was really cool! #2014throwback
Also the two boys will be getting baptized on January 24th, and so we are both super excited for them and for their whole family. The dad is hoping to be able to go through the temple by the end of the year. Yahoo!! :)
Oh and with the new year, our church meeting times swapped to 9 and 11--which means we get off two hours earlier than last week!! :) Woooh! Not that church is bad; it's just nice to be able to do other things on Sunday.

Oh speaking of Sundays, a family in our ward brought a non-member friend with them to church, and then we were able to teach a lesson to him afterwards! :) And to make it better, he agreed to take all of the lessons! What?
Anywho, I have gotta keep it short!
Take care,

Elder Jacob Guymon
